We Did It: Together, We Saved Eungella
After two years of relentless campaigning and advocacy, Save Eungella and our incredible supporters have achieved what once seemed impossible: the Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project is expected to be scrapped. Premier David Crisafulli, in his recent election victory, has committed to terminating this project. This outcome is a testament to the power of community, perseverance, and the unyielding dedication of everyone who believed in protecting Eungella.
Our huge thanks to our local members, Stephen Andrew and Michelle Landry, who supported us from day one. Massive thanks to Sybelle and Patricia from Earth Animal Australia for their tireless research on our unique environment, compiling a comprehensive scientific report that will help us better protect our area for future generations. We also extend great appreciation to Tones and the team from CQ Collective, who have advocated alongside us for our community and environment from the very beginning.
This victory wouldn’t have been possible without each and every supporter who shared posts, wrote letters, attended meetings, and showed unwavering support. Together, we have proven that community power can shape policy and protect what truly matters. Thank you to all who stood with us—our beloved Eungella is safer today because of you.
